dreaming of injured popstars
released march 2001
Dreaming Of Injured Popstars first gained press attention
as an album track on Panic Attack At Sainsbury's, causing
small controversy for the lyrics. But it wasn't released
as a single for six months. Chris had originally been unwilling
to release it but gave in after record label bribery and
the promise of two simultaneous single releases...
We went back into the studio and re-edited Injured Popstars,
tightening the arrangement. This 7" is definitely better
than the album original (you can hear Kelly Jones scream)
and is unavailable on CD.
We ended up releasing two different 7" singles on the same day,
coinciding with Manic Street Preachers doing two CDs at once.
We were taking the piss, obviously.
Single 1:
A) Dreaming Of Injured Popstars (single version)
B) Cutler (re-recording of track from Beatverse)
Single 2:
A) English Man
B) What Can I Say To You?
(both these are unavailable elsewhere)
